Full Governing Body

Local governance

Woodside is proud to be able to maintain a very committed Local Governing Body (LGB).  Its primary responsibility is holding the school and its leaders to account for the outcomes of all pupils.

The Academy took the decision to hold three half day onsite visits which includes a full governing body meeting (LGB). This was put in place from 2022 for a variety of reasons. Firstly to support the wellbeing of the staff and governors, as feedback was that evening meetings negatively impacted on our staff and governor time. Governor visit days, during school time, affords the opportunity for governors to see the school operate with children present.  Seeing the children and energy during the school day helps encourage a sense of pride and a greater determination to positively impact the school.

Furthermore we decided based on feedback to change from sub-committees to a robust link governor structure. The role of a link governor is to ensure the school is held to account for all aspects of school life. On the governor visit day, we have individual meetings with key staff members which enables governors to more effectively support and challenge the school and staff.

Our team of local Governors consists of:
