Japanese Artists in Year 5

Year Five have been looking at the Japanese artist Hokusai and his famous woodblock prints The 36 Views of Mount Fuji (a dormant volcano).  We made these 3D versions of The Great Wave by painting the sky with watercolours and cutting out the waves in separate layers and attaching them inside a shoe box.  Some people added details such as sponging the foam on huge waves and drawing the tiny terrified people inside the boats.  Some of the fantastic results will be on display in the year five library, well done 5B and 5S!
