SEND offer

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Woodside Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential. High-quality, inclusive, and appropriately adapted teaching is the foundation of our approach to meeting the needs of all pupils.

Where a pupil requires support that is additional to, or different from, that normally available through quality-first teaching, they may receive Special Educational Needs (SEN) support. This reflects the graduated approach outlined in the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring that pupils receive coordinated and targeted support matched to their individual needs.

For some children with more complex or long-term needs, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) may be appropriate. EHCPs provide a coordinated approach across education, health, and social care services to ensure that a child's needs are met effectively.

Information about SEND at Woodside

Woodside Primary Academy provides information on:

  • How pupils with SEND are identified
  • How parents and carers are consulted and involved
  • How pupils with SEND are supported in school
  • Our approach to teaching and learning
  • How we adapt provision to meet individual needs
  • How progress is monitored and reviewed
  • How the effectiveness of SEND provision is evaluated

Please click here to access our SEND Policy, which provides further information on these areas. Our annual SEND Information Report can also be found at the bottom of that page.

Leadership and Governance

The Governing Body, through its Curriculum Committee, receives regular updates from the SENCo regarding:

  • The number of pupils on the SEND register and their areas of need
  • Provision mapping and interventions
  • Staff training and professional development
  • Updates to SEND policies and procedures

Minutes of governing body meetings are available to all governors. The Senior Leadership Team regularly reviews attainment, progress, attendance, and wider school data to ensure that the needs of vulnerable groups, including pupils with SEND, are being effectively met.

Transition Arrangements

To ensure continuity of support, transition meetings and moderation activities take place annually. This enables receiving staff to develop a clear understanding of pupils' needs and the provision required before they join their new class in September.
