Mental Health and Wellbeing
At our school, we are committed to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for all members of our community. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe, valued, supported and ready to thrive.
We recognise that good mental health is as important as physical health and plays a vital role in children's learning, relationships and overall development. Through a nurturing and inclusive environment, we aim to help every child build resilience, confidence and the skills needed to manage life's challenges.
We support pupils' mental health and wellbeing through:
- A caring and supportive ethos where every child feels heard and valued.
- Strong relationships between pupils, staff and families.
- Pastoral support and opportunities for children to discuss worries or concerns.
- Targeted interventions and support from our Learning Mentors where appropriate.
- Teaching of personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education to develop emotional literacy, self-awareness and healthy coping strategies.
- Promoting positive friendships, kindness and respect throughout the school community.
- Working in partnership with external agencies when additional support is needed.
We encourage children to talk about their feelings and seek help when they need it. By working together with families, we aim to create a culture where mental health is openly discussed, stigma is challenged and every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
If you have any concerns about your child's emotional wellbeing or would like further information about the support available, please contact Kate Raley, DDSL and Family Liaison Lead.
