Spring 2021/22

World Religion Day

World Religion Day was celebrated at Woodside on the 17th January 2022. It is an international celebration started by the Bah’ai religion where children looked at the similarities and differences between faiths but also thought about how we could create a better world where we can all work together.

Safer Internet Day

We arranged for our parents and carers to participate in online training as part of our ‘Safer Internet Day’. The theme of the day was ‘All fun and Games? Exploring respect and relationships online is essential that we all have a role in keeping our children safe when they’re online, but it is equally important that we have the tools and knowledge to do so.

Sports Relief

As part of sports relief at Woodside, pupils participated in a sponsored fitness circuit with an international athlete! The aim of the event was to inspire the pupils to be more physically active. He also encouraged pupils to discover and pursue their own passion in their life, this was shared through a whole school assembly.

Children’s Mental Health Week

The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week was Growing Together. Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Children learnt that challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. A variety of links were shared with parents/carers to help support their children.

World Book Day

As part of our drive to maintain, promote and engage pupil’s interest in reading, the school took part in World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March 2022. This year, World Book Day celebrated its 25th anniversary and the theme this year was: ‘You are a reader! ‘Children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character from any book. Children also participated in lots of exciting activities, shared their own favourite book from home, learnt poems to perform to the school, participated in a character parade and had the opportunity to enter a year group writing competition! In addition, we will also held a Woodside Book Swap. Insert picture.
