In light of our school closure, we have prepared schoolwork for your child to complete at home. You will find guidelines for reading, numeracy and spelling, as well as a separate sheet for self-directed home learning activities. There are also daily activities for mindfulness practice. Please see the list of websites for further learning.
You should be reading at home every day. Remember to work on your fluency, expression and applying the skills you have learnt in guided reading. It is important that you are reading for 20 minutes every day. Challenge yourself by writing some fact retrieval and inference questions about what you have read.
You need to practise your 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables every day. Remember to learn the related division facts, as well as the multiplication facts. You need to be able to recall each fact within 5 seconds. You also need to practice your number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.
It is important to continue with your spelling homework. Within this pack, you will find the Year 2 statutory spellings list known as common exception words. Please learn these and ensure that you also know what each of the words mean.
So that we keep our minds healthy, it is important that we practise mindfulness each day, just like we do in school. Use the body scan and breathing techniques you have been taught at school. You can also use the websites listed for further mindfulness ideas.
Be intentionally kind
Each day, do something kind towards another person. This could be, holding the door open, sharing, helping your parent to cook or smiling at someone. Think about how it makes you feel when you are kind or when kindness is shown to you.
