Nursery 3-4 Years
Autumn 1 Topic Newsletter
Our topic this half term is Nursery Rhymes. We will be focusing on one rhyme per week. We will learn about the following rhymes, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Incy Wincy Spider, Five Little Ducks, Wheels on the Bus, Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree. In addition we will focus on the books Brown Bear Brown Bear and We are Going on a Bear Hunt.
Personal, Social & Emotional
Our main aim will be settling in children, as some children are new to nursery, some have moved to a new room, while others have come back after the summer break. We will be supporting children to learn the new routine, rules and boundaries as they make new friends.
We will be listening to stories, singing rhymes and drawing some of the characters from the rhymes. We will be learning to identify our names too.
We will be learning to count through singing number rhymes including five little ducks and this will help children to count. We will be counting to 10 using different actions like jumping and clapping. We will also be learning about lining up objects when counting then touch every object as we count.
We will be encouraging children to use the toilet independently and wash their hands after. In addition we will be encouraging children to dress themselves. We will explore playdough, and play on the equipment outside to make our hands stronger.
Expressive Arts & Design
We will be singing songs and playing different instruments! We will explore different materials as we make pictures. There will be lots of messy activities using paint, cornflour and many other interesting resources.
Understanding of the World
We will be learning about our families. There will be lots of pretend play making tea in the home corner, driving cars and trains and flying aeroplanes.
