Year 4 Incredible India day - in pictures
Last week year 4 classes took part in a fun-filled day, immersing themselves in Indian culture.
Our visitors, Action Aid, put on a fantastic workshop where children explored artefacts from Chembakolli, dressed up in traditional clothes and even practiced walking with a steel pot full of water on their heads. There were a few wobbles but luckily no spilt water! Children also used a recipe to make coconut biscuits. They measured ingredients, rolled out the mixture and used cutters to create their biscuit. They tasted great!
Children also learnt about the festival of Jaipur and decorated pictures of elephants using different paints and brushes. To end our incredible day, each class performed their Bollywood dancing to the song Jai Ho – Well done Year 4, you were all fantastic!
Our topic, Incredible India, has been a focus point of our Literacy work this week. Children have been reading a traditional story from Chembakolli – Footprints in the Forest. They have focused on using descriptive techniques to describe characters and settings. Next week, we will continue to read stories from other cultures.
